Ben Farrant (Owner)
Ben grew up on a mainly beef operation near Lousana, which is about a half hour southeast of Red Deer. After attending the University of Alberta and achieving an Ag Business degree, he started his career with Central Alberta Co-op. After 8 years at the Co-op, Ben started Red Top Ag Ventues LTD focussing on supplying Central Alberta with corn, canola and forage seed. Ben does currently still have a purebred Simmental herd he runs with his wife Kassandra. Whether it is seed or beef genetics Ben is all in!
Katie Luymes (Sales Associate)
Katie was born and raised on a commercial beef operation near Ponoka. After completing a Crop Science degree at the University of Alberta, she started a career with Central Alberta Co-op. Originally working under Ben's management at the Innisfail location, then moving closer to home at the Lacombe location, where she worked until 2023. In the fall of 2023 she joined Ben with the Red Top Ag Ventures Pioneer agency, and also currently farms along with her husband Peter on their mixed farming operation.
Katie is also a PAg (Professional Agrologist) as well as a CCA (Certified Crop Advisor). She can assist in applying for government funding and grants that require a professional to sign off on, so reach out to her if you require support!
